I hear he is getting angry that people are posting his address. There is no need to post his address. Whitepages.com lists his address and with the help of streetview on google maps everyone can confirm that this is the house shown on wife swap. He probably thinks that people of lower class can not figure that one out themselves.

I am so disappointed in ABC for airing such a hurtful episode to Americans. We have just had a positive change and a new beginning since Jan. 20th. We do not need to see and hear negativity about our Country or The Diversity of People who live here and have come together even more since Jan.20th. I am ashamed to have a man like Stephen Fowler living here. He knows nothing about the U.S.
He needs to go back to where he came from.

re: "...We have just had a positive change and a new beginning since Jan. 20th...."
CHANGE ?!?! New Beginging? LOL. Lets see here...I bet The Fowlers voted for "the one". Nice company they keep.

The Fowlers reflect THE ONE perfectly. Didn't THE ONE say that midwesterners were "bitter clingers" while he was speaking to a San Francisco crowd? And didn't THE ONE's wife say that we Americans are mean people, stuck in our comfort zones...but THE ONE won't ALLOW us to stay there? She was right about that! Nobody is comfortable now, thanks to THE ONE!!!!!!!!! All Stephen Fowler did was to communicate clearly THE ONE's true attitude toward his royal subjects. THE ONE is as blind and clueless as Fowler is.

I think Stephen is correct is wanting to do the best for himself and his children as he possibly can. Nothing he said to the "swap" wife was inappropraite.
Maybe more Americans need to take a good hard look at their own pathetic lives and really evaluate who and what they have really become.
I have advanced degrees because I want more out of my life. Unfortunately, I cannot find a job to match my skillset--Biochemist. I have an MBA degree too.
Furthermore, I am a Desert Storm I veteran whereby I was gang raped and sexually tortured by my superiors on a regular basis in the early 1990's, most of whom were rednecks from the midwest, so I would say that Stephen Fowlers was pretty much right on in absolutely everything he ever said on the show WIFE SWAP.
...and shame on the rest of you for condeming a man who wants to the best he can for his family.
Reply to this
Nobody likes gang rape and sexual tor...well, some do ...but I don't and if you don't then, I'm so sorry that happened to you. But you can't paint the midwest with that kind of broad brush.

Gwen-
I am sorry you were attacked while in Iraq and appreciate your service to our country. No one that has served our country in the military should have gone through that. Hopefully you contacted your JAG and had Article 32 hearings initiated against your superiors.
However, your insistence on propagating stereotypes of "rednecks" in the Midwest is appalling. Your blatant arrogance is probably why you have not been able to land a professional career. However, somehow I (a "redneck" from Missouri like the Longs)was able to be university-educated currently have a successful environmental engineering career with an international firm. I would hope my firm would never hire you, as you don't exhibit our core values.
I think you and Stephen should take his wife Renee's advice, and get professional help together. If not, then please leave our country- we don't need you here!

Gwendolyn: I've got all of my advanced degrees, too, and I don't agree with you. I do regret that your experience with mid-western males was tragic and frankly, inexcusable. And clearly, this is an issue that needs to be addressed by you that is separate from Stephen Fowler. But you are doing exactly the same thing that he does: you generalize based on limited experience. As a caring human being, I am saddened that you cannot see the difference between caring and wanting the best for your family (as you've described Mr. Fowler) and a man who is both abusive and sociopathic - which is the behavior that he demonstrates. What people SAY is one thing, what they DO is often another. You already know that from your life experiences. Please do not defend this behavior. Being educated or financially successful doesn't make a man a good husband or father. For your own sake, learn to recognize the difference. Please get the help that you need.

There is nothing wrong with wanting the best for your family but to but other people down is just showing everyone how ignorant you really are.
let me educate you on something very important. Did you know that Jesus who is the Son of God who created you and me and everyone including this universe we live in came to live among us as a lowly carpenters son. yet did more than you could ever hope to accomplish in yrs. yet of course He is something your not thats perfect in everyway
while your rushing around trying to set your life up as something to brag about. you've failed to plan for the future when you die you do know you cant take any of your money with you.
yet you've never thought of laying up treasures in heaven and having everlasting life did you? If Jesus comes back today or even tomorrow all the titles behind your name wont do you no good. you know that. if you dont know Him as your personal savior you will not make it into heaven but you will burn in hell for all eternity.
so put that in your 50,000 dollar pipe and smoke it! and by the way i am from the south and as you refer to it as a redneck but actually i am hillbilly as well. but you see this redneck hillbilly is also a nurse and Ive saved sorry pathetic lives such as yours thousands of times. so go figure.

What does Jesus and not excepting him as your saviour and burning in hell got to do with the fact that Stephen Fowler's an ass.......I didn't really get the connection. We all know you are a baptist though...hallleleujah. You are kind of a bigot though if you think that all the non-christians in the world are burning in hell though. I'm sure some buddhists, hindus, jews and muslims would take exception to that.

NO shame on you for defending this horses ass. Looks like you need to take your own advice. It looks to me like you need to "REALLY EVALUATE" your own patheic life. Rape victim, unemployed, whining about your education thats not used. You were armed to the teeth and aloud yourself to be raped and tortured on a daily basis? You are a liar, a retard, or a major pussy or possibly all of the above.

First, I want to thank you for your service to our country and apologies for what happened to you in Iraq. Hopefully you found a woman CO to confide in and prosecuted those bastards who raped you. You are correct, there is nothing wrong with wanting the best for your family--but not a the cost of thinking you are superior to anyone else. What Fowler said was wrong and he is an example of someone whose education "went to his head." A truly knowledgeable man does not boast of his prowess until it is called for, Fowler is setting himself up to be a very lonely (and very isolated) person. Even the most self-sufficient person needs help eventually.

You're a female veteran with advanced degrees including an MBA and you can't find a job? Something wrong here, most likely wrong with you. If you were assaulted that is wrong and I hope you dealt with it properly. Apparently not, because if you had the proper counseling and got on with your life, you would have multiple 6 figure job offers. Even in this economy!
I am a well educated Midwesterner. Republican. I thought Fowler was an ASS. I would love to debate the arrogant little ....

The fact that you called American lives pathetic insinuates that you don't hail from a dirt farm or corn field.
Not everyone gets the same opportunities. My parents didn't have money, for instance. I had no control over that. Maybe you say they should be permitted to reproduce if they didn't have money. But you know what? They never accepted welfare, public health, or anything of the like. My parent's didn't want sympathy from ANYONE. My Life would have been easier if they had partaken of government programs, but then you would have had a reason to b!tc# about another family WE support on welfare checks.
You want to tell me I'm a pathetic American? I don't need a degree to deserve respect. I earned it literally through my own sweat, blood, and tears. I out-worked every man on the crews, and I was the ONLY woman. You served in the military. And yet you still look down upon the heroes of America. ALL the "pathetic" heroes, not just the ones abroad. I know redneck heroes of our country who are in prison for defending us WOMEN even on the home front. My parents couldn't pay for my education. I bought every vehicle IN CASH. Paid for everything I needed; school, books, bills, car repairs, everything! I put food in the refrigerator several times, and went to college full time for two years, while holding down two jobs.
I worked too much to support myself to spend long nights in high school composing 3000 word essays, and trying to fill out applications and questionnaires and apply for loans. No one in my family could co-sign, because they couldn't afford for me to miss a payment. And I would end up in school with a bunch of snotty-spoiled-@$$ kids "what's parents got money" and think maturity depends on how many drugs you can handle.
Ha. I ended up making more money in high school. Life's mean trick. I wanted to help my family, because they are all I really had. I wanted to be somebody prestigious who made a difference, etc, etc... Just Like in your almighty Biochemist & MBA, I wanted more out of my life. And it looks like I got the better end of the deal. I'm a hard-working, honest, wholehearted American from some god-forsaken "po-dunk" town. I got what I want out of my life. I have my happy family. We have what we need, and we don't WANT anymore than to make a difference with the people who matter to us.
I also live in a nice community, where people are generally well-off. My beat-up Ford attracts a lot of attention with local law enforcement (it appears to look like those of drug dealers.) I wouldn't change it though. Whether I think I deserve something better or not, I don't WANT it. I got that with my hard-earned money, I don't want anything else.
You can tell Mr. Fowler, I don't give two $h!ts, I have more pride and life experience than his high education & ASSinine outlook will ever get him.
And I still RESPECT the people I surpassed, & I am PROUD of them.
The middle class are what hold up the pedestal to the rich.

I am a Nigerian living in my country and a christian who respects God's words. Please I want to remind you that people are not the same. You just cannot generalise a blame on other people. Not because rednecks assaulted you mean all of them are rapist. In every family, all the kids have different characters, you find some well behaved and some very stubborn; so also humans in general. Suffice to say that there are Bad People as well as GOOD people and that includes your own people too (I mean people from same tribe as you). I only feel sorry you fell into the hands of the bad rednecks.
Talking about Mr. Fowlers attitude on WIFE SWAP, I always feel wounded when I see people who are mere privileged than others to always think they achieved it all by themselves; do not ever forget that wealth, brain, intelligence, knowledge, social connections, good health etc are mere PRIVILEGES given to you by GOD. He expects you to use them for HIS (not YOUR OWN)glory and to be of service to humanity and not for you to dehumanise others who don't measure up and make them miserable. Take heed less that privilege be taken from you.
By the way, I want to ask the Fowlers where they have kept GOD in their always busy American lifestyle, the God who created them and gave them such wonderful opportunities to be who they are in life today. You don't look down on people just because they don't measure up to ur standard. U have to change and teach ur children what LOVE really means. Tolerance is a gift and a virture but I view Mr. Fowler as a proud man and God does like Pride in any form. The Bible said Give thanks to God for everything including your success and achievements.
Please PEOPLE of this world let us learn to love one another as ourselves for that is the greatest thing a man can do. Only then will all these hating, fighting, killing, raping, abortion, stealing and all forms of wickedness can reduce. Michael Jackson said the Change can start from the MAN IN THE MIRROR.....YOU, yes you and me.
It is my hope that we all change and learn to love a little bit more. if Mr. Fowler had love for his fellow human beings, he would have overlooked her flaws and tolerated her for two weeks (ONLY 2 WEEKS...not too much to ask for).
GOD HELP US,......AMEN!!!!

How can I condem a man who is not American and his wife who clearly stated it was not her choice to be born in America for their behavior, very easily. As he is finding out Americans stick together, educated or not. We do not condem midwesterns, we condem cruel acts against us. Fowler is cruel in not just what he says but how he treats others, his children included. How can his children be better people when they have nothing to show but their education? How will they learn to interact in the world when all they have is that education? They are victims of their parents. Look at what their actions have done to them so far. They want to cry because they now have backlash to their behavior- well sorry this redneck feels you deserve all that we Americans are dishing out. I only wish the children did not have to suffer.

Dear Gwendolyn, im saddened to hear your reply that nothing was inappropiate, being ganged raped on a regular basis was inappropiate. but somehow goes along with abuse. That now siding with an abuser, make no mistake that women was abused verbally like you were physically. That you can't identify an abuser still worries me. Most people who were abuse either trancsend to recognizing abuse of any kind,or side with abusers like you have. The shame is not recognizing abuse. Denial is a protective mechanism and energy as you could see from his wife dancing all around trying to release it, being a life coach as she is. The producers played a role in perpetuating the abuse of this women, much like your superiors did. The young mother needs to look at why she accepted this abuse and exploited herself and allow someone to verbally abuse her like that, that the producers didn't stop him.hello. We can all generalize and say maybe she had abuse issues of her own she's denying. We don't know. As a biochemist you know we are all more than just intellect and degrees, they don't always put food on our tables. Those children were forced to be particapants in this abuse, protective services should be called in on all who participated, to put little children through that. The producers are the real abusers for letting it all continue to this level and airing such an episode. This touched the core of all people to the well educated to ones who arent highly or well educated. I wish you peace and wellness.

I am late to this as I don't keep up with "Wife Swap" but - after reading comments on various sites - I HAD to watch YouTube. I am...astounded...and I have to admit that I love the responses from readers. Mrs. Fowler calls herself a "certified life coach, neurolinguistic expert, and on and on." Isn't this what Tony Robbins does? (And he is big on conquering obesity.) Look, I've written a thesis on coaching and I have a PhD and these BS credentials don't fool me. If this woman - with all of her "education" and enlightenment - can't see that this man is simply psychologically and emotionally abusive, she's the one who needs the life coach. The subtext of their relationship is horrifying and I wouldn't trust ANY "advice" or "coaching" from a woman who clearly cannot manage her own life. And he is simply another deluded sociopath who believes that because he picks up a paintbrush, the result must be "art"; because a thought passes through his brain, it must be profound; because he has a passport and got on a plane, he is an authority on various cultures. He reminds me of an 17th century FOP. Hats off to the creator of this site for calling this idiot out. (Note to Stephen - as a Brit, you do know what a fop is, don't you?!!!)

If I lived near him and worked in ANY profession that would serve him, he would be black-listed! America has enough of its own douche bags to deal with, we don't need a pompous ass brit to top it off (by the way I have nothing at all against brits, in fact I love all of europe, but Stephen Fowler will probably end up on dictionary.com as the new definition of "arrogant").

HRH Fowler's obnoxious personality is most likely the result of extreme insecurity. He belittles others because it makes himself feel big. That phony nervous laugh of his was pathetic. I'm guessing that he was made to feel very small by overachieving, superficial, materialistic parents. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. And his children will be just like him.

So let me get this straight, "Gwendolyn":
You were REPEATEDLY RAPED, yet you SUPPORT THIS OBNOXIOUS, ABUSIVE MAN?
You use EDUCATION as a qualification of OPINION? Yet you fought in a war for a country where FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND RELIGION are core values?
As "educated" as you are, you call VERBAL ABUSE AND HUMILIATION on NATIONAL TV as "saying nothing inappropriate"?
You call the people of the midwest, aka "America's Heartland", a bunch of rednecks? I'm sorry, hunny, but I grew up in the SF Bay Area and have lived most of my adult life in the midwest; I met just as many "hicks" and white trash losers in California as I have in the "Heartland". Maybe more.
You think he is "doing the best he can for his family" by acting like an arrogant fool in front of the whole country. And as a foreigner? He has been publicly condemned by the vast majority of greater America! How is this example good for his children? How is that "good for his family"?
You have an advanced degree in biochem. and an MBA? Pretty similar to me, except I get calls ALL THE TIME about job opportunities. That is one of few fields that hasn't been hit hard by the recession.
I'm sorry, but I think there is a pretty good reason that you can't find anything to match your "skill set". Most companies aren't looking for "arrogant, miserable, opinionated scumbag" in applicants' resumes these days.
Look in the mirror!

What a profoundly disturbing cult, The Fowlers. Stephen's controlled nervous cackle is unequivocally (ooooo.... biiiig woid) and unquestionably reflects low self esteem. He lacks grace, class or manners. The sterile institutionally staged environment is just a mirror of the hypercontrolled lives. Rather than encouraging Gayla (sp?) to see benefits of education he spent the entire time berating her - how one feels about her lifestyle is totally irrelevant here. Bad form. What a total knob. Would any of us question the distinct possibility that he was likely tormented at his posh boarding schools and spent his entire life doing everything to run away from it. (Oh, I DO hope that someone who knew him back then would come forward. Then again, they may be just as damaged as he is). Abused often become abusers and we just go treated to an hour-long showcase on one of them. I would be shocked if any of his wife's patients remain. He lacks humanity and class. There are many financiers much wealhier than he who would not wipe their well-heeled shoes with his proclamation t-shirts. Mrs. F's tolerance of this pathetic man just speaks volumes about her commitment to her work. It's as insane as going to lectures about the importance and legal aspects of civil rights ... led by an 'expert' who is married to a KKK member. Perhaps karma is just what they got. I'm happily passing the link to this wonderful website to everyone I know! This is a case of 'the lady doth protest too much...' except he's not a lady nor, even, a gentleman. I don't think UK wants him either.

I agree with the people who are outraged by the behaviour of Mr. Fowler and others like him. Unfortunately, these people do not see themselves as having a problem. It must be really difficult for them to have to live in a world where most of the people in it are so substandard. But growing is about adapting, and if you can't/don't adapt, you die. There is still hope for his children, though.

People who respond with "go back to Europe" are just as stupid and chauvinistic as Fowler is. I've been to London. I have yet to meet one person who's as rude and ignorant with as downright as middleclass an attitude as Stephen Fowler. By the way, Europe is very nice and if you haven't been there for a visit, and are judging it by the price of sodas at Heathrow ,then you have an attitude adjustment coming yourself. Try Hungary next time. Beer will cost you $.60 and lunch will be under $2.00. Seriously, if you went to London and found noththere that we don't have here, you really weren't trying. Buckingham Palace? The Thames? Big Ben? I have traveled widely. I was born in Europe so I was extremely shocked to hear the nonsense spewing forth from Mr. Fowler. The rudeness to a guest in his home was inexcuseable. Has he ever been to the midwest? Chicago is in the Midwest. Is that a hick town too? The midwest includes major manufacturing and cities with large populations that have Universities and Museums and Operas and Symphonies and Ballets not to mention Theatres. Millions of people live there and I can assure you, having lived for a good portion of my life in the Midwest, that they are not waiting to glimpse culture on one coast or the other but are quite satisfied with what they have where they are.
But Mr Fowler's rude attitude would not be welcome in the midwest anymore than we on the West Coast, where I now reside (too close for comfort) would tolerate it. And I know how the Brits feel about him. On Friday nights, on BBC America, you can watch the Catherine Tate show. She does a great impression of a snooty upper class twit. I gather they've worn out their welcome over there but good. So keep sending your comments. But if you're a "GO BACK TO EUROPE" type, then maybe you could hitch a ride with him.

I was absolutely horrified by this man's atrocious behavior throughout the course of the program. With such an IQ, and let none of us forget, that stands in the 99.99 percentile (for us "uneducated, redneck Americans" that is an approximate score of 158) one would think that Fowler could focus his intelligence on changing the world instead of belittling this poor woman.
Do I believe that education is important? Very much so. However I also believe that, as a parent, it is important to teach children compassion, a trait in which Fowler would know nothing about. I pray that those children do not grow to be as cold-hearted as their parents.
Another thing, does he dare to decry such a country that provides he and his family a home, security, and let us again not forget, wealth? As he made it crystal clear that he earns much more than the "average, uneducated American." He dares to condemn a military that provides him the right to freedom of speech? A privilege in which I believe he takes for granted. If America is so "uncivilized" then why, I ask, choose to become a citizen? To "help" us? As an American I can proudly say that I, nor do any of us "Proud Americans," want your so-called "help."
With all of this said, you, Mr. Fowler, may feel free to take your family and your blasphemies elsewhere.
And as for you, Ms. Gwendolyn LaMontagne:
You may feel free to join him.

I also have several degrees, which let me make enough that I was able to retire very early. BUT, my family always came first to me. I taught them that education is very important but the most important things to learn are compassion for others and a sense of responsibility.I'm very upset at the way the jerk was teaching his children to act. Kids usually grow up to act like their parents, I can't imagine two little Fowlers running around. In my lifetime I've found that the people who show off and brag about how wealthy they are - usually aren't. They scrimp just like everyone else but they have to put on a show. Those who degrade others only do so to make themselves feel more important. I know MANY midwestern multi-millionaires who have worked very hard to make their money. They wear clothing from K-Mart because they feel no need to try to impress anyone. To look at them or talk to them, you'd never know they had so much wealth. Hmmmm, they're just people - like you and I. Of course I think people from the midwest are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. No need to tell the world how rich and smart you are....cos that makes you sound stupid. I wasn't lucky enough to catch the wife's comment. I just hope she dumped that pompous ass. I have a son who is an officer in the Marine Corps and he just happens to be stationed in California right now. He's built like a tank, nothing but muscle. I think I'll have him watch the episode, I don't think he'd be impressed with Fowlers opinions of the military.

Gwen,
2 separate things here. First thankyou for your service to us because of people like you we are able to voice our opinions on this blog. I am sooo sorry for your ordeal with those superiors and I hope they get what is coming to them.
The second thing is this man slammed you and all who chose to join the military saying that was all they could do since they were uneducated. I believe he was much more harsh. He slammed all Americans as well.
I hate what happened to you. I know from experience myself.
This man was totally wrong in all he said. (we do have some rednecks and they live in each state of the union) Some are simple and some are mean and some are just good and wonderful people. I grew up calling a person a redneck if he or she was just a mean person.
Thanks again for your service.

I am from San Francisco. I have advanced degrees. I care about the environment and global citizenship. I enjoy organic food and fine wines.
And I think Stephen Fowler is a complete ASS. I am horrified he represented my city, and I worry for his children. I know too many like them who grew up to be over-achieving robots incapable of happiness.
Hopefully all this public outrage will wake-up that arrogant bastard, or atleast his wife, to his repulsiveness.

"He is British"?? What does that have to do with anything? There are more than enoguh non-British people who are just as bad if not worse than Stephen Fowler. The fact that he is British has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Don't get me wrong, He is still the biggest douche bag in the...world i would assume, infact I guaruntee if anyone watches sxephil on youtube you'll here about Stephen Fowler. The point is though, nationality has nothing to do with how much of a pompous ass this man is.

I thought Renee Fowler said that she was a certified life coach, destination something, and neuro linguistic coach. I might be wrong on this and frankly I don't care enough to check on it but aren't those certificate programs that can be attained in a couple of months to a year. So though she may have multiple certificates, "I'm guessing we're not dealing with advanced degrees here."

I'm shocked. He must have an incredibly small penis to talk to others like that. If he was so into the causes he says he's into I'm surprised he doesn't treat other human beings with the same respect.

Well, he is quite the fool! I must admit, I feel very sorry for the the poor family that had to swap with those terrible vipors. But, more importantly, I am even more upset for the British people as they are going to have to accept this sort of fossil back into their country. I have lived in the U.K. and let me tell you...just like here, there are many accents, levels of education, poverty and success. There is very little difference, but for the ghost of a class system from the past. The U.K. still fights this sort of behavior and this guy is actually a good representation of what the average middle class man or women will have to face. I think he should not be permitted back into the U.K. either, he is not a good representation of their future, but an UGLY reminder of their past.
As for his wife, well...I would bet I am more well travelled than both of them and I think she is the perfect example of what I have come to call an American Anglophile. I have bumped into them in my travels. The profile of that kind of person is one that continually complains about her fellow Americans in an attempt to gain the favor of the people she meets that have nothing better to do but bash the largest ex-colony. I've met many like her. It's unfortunate that they have found a home in San Francisco, I used to live there and thought it was a lovely city, but I see it is now harboring a bit of TRASH.

Now, this is a different view point. I am really from NYC. Although I live in Vegas now. When I saw that this article made it to yahoo.com , I didn't know who this guys(SF) was. As I read the article I really thought this guy is a dick, BUT I then realized that I jumped to conclusions. There is always to sides to any story. As I read this posted letter from the Average American, I though how clever. Now my curiosity peaked. Then I decided to watched the clips of the show.To get a better feel on what all the fuss is about. After watching it I said, Yea the guys was a little bit out of line. I think a gentleman of his caliber should have been more diplomatic. I think he could have been, but the annoyance of this woman got the best of him. No matter how much of a dump cow this stupid broad was, he should have bit his tongue. I truly understand why he got pissed off. As I watched this fat slob getting all in to the show writing rules and getting nosy in his face, I would have been annoyed too. She knew she was annoying him, BUT she kept pressing certain issues with Stephen. The she wonders why he is behaving this way. Then topps it off with dram queen reaction. JERRY , JERRY, JERRY !! She too should have just backed off. I was born and raised this country and I know exactly what he is talking about. This is by far the greatest country in the world. Just saying the words dosnt mean shit unless you have the experiences to compare it to. I agree with some of his views. No sarcasm here. He just went about it the wrong way.Its classic trend that intelligent folks tends to lack common sense. Like doctors. What Stephen refers to about midwesterners has some truth. These are the very same people that went out and voted for GW.Bush, two frigging times. Why do think we as a country have fallen from grace? 8 years of self destruction by the sol hands of YAHOOS! Ignorance is bliss. Its very true we don't travel as Americans as much as the rest of world does, unfortunately. Instead of saving their money and blowing a couple a grand to go see NaSCAR or the rodeo, why not for once thier lifetime used it to explore some where different. Some where they can experience a different culture. Then maybe, just maybe they can broaden their horizon's.There is power behind when you speak from your travel experience. There is more to life then sitting around eating Cheetos and watching 8 hours of reality shows.FYI Going to another state isn't traveling. What I see the biggest mistake Mr.Fowler did is to sign up to appear on what is a dumb and mindless show. What was he thinking? Then to display that kind of behavior on camera?! WTF. He should have know better or he should have just declined to do the show altogether. Why waste your time?

Dear New Yorker,
Initially, please let me point out that I believe you meant to write "dumb cow" instead of "dump cow" and you also meant to write "horizons" instead of "horizon's". Perhaps you missed your fifth grade grammar lesson, but you use an apostrophe with an "s" to show possession. In case I missed it, "horizon's" isn't possessing any other word. Don't you think you should get your elementary grammar straight before you insult someone else? I also note that you mention "there is always to sides to any story." Again, note that it should be there "are" two sides, (plural, not singular), and the correct word is "two", not "to". I went to law school in Missouri and am currently living in NYC, and your attitude is typical of that of Stephen Fowler. Stephen Fowler thinks he is superior to someone from the Midwest, while he himself doesn't even hold a J.D. or M.D. (not that a J.D. or M.D. would make him superior). Maybe you would write back in and let me know where he received his entitlement to judge others??
Thanks!
p.s.
My fiance graduated from Harvard Law School and acts NOTHING like Stephen Fowler.

Renee Stephens Dislikes the United States of America, She is a Joke and Thinks no one is above her. She cant even clean her own house. Why does she let her stupid non american loving husband drive a 10 year old mini van by Dodge, Should they not be driving a hybird or electric car. What about his bio fuel companys, should he be using his own fuel, When they are a green family? Why burn fossil fuel? She is a lier and so full of her self and has no time for her children who dont want to do half of the things the parents ask of the kids as seen in the "wife swap " tv show. The idot foul mouth husband who has a mensa IQ of 164 cant understand basic kindergarden ruels, be nice to your neighbor, dont hit and share! These people think everyone else is below them. The president of the United States Of America, Should call the Fowler / Stephens just to say, Your visa or citizenship has been revoked for 120 days and due to your non American love for this Country you need to leave the Us until you can underastand why we fight to be proud Americans and the great love and strength people share for our land, that you dis approve of and dont give a darn about. Its Time for both of them to leave our country and go home to his country and take his own peoples money. They need to stop taking Americans money and stop reling on USA citazins to pay for the private $40,000 elementry school that these people scam money from the avage person through their weight loss scams. The old saying, If you dont like America, Get the Hell out! These people are 2 french frys short of a happy meal. their heads are so far up there colon, they dont see whats really important. If Stephen is a member of Mensa. Does he not understand how film and tv work. You are recorded being a tool and then 30 to 60 days latter its aired on national tv for millons of Usa loving flag waving Americans to watch these idiots make complete tools of them selfs. And I use the word tool nicely for them. Im sure there are some rude verbs that i can use to describe them better but lets keep this clean and green. I would rather have Michal Vic live in San Francisco / USA then Stephen Fowler and his idot wife Renee Stephens , Well now Michael vic is a tool and even stupider!! but god will deal with him, Help his soul
In closing I wish all falls down around them and lose everything and the kids have to go to a public schhol and they will have to actually punch a time clock. Renee has to clean houses for a living and Stephen can only find work in the mid west after everyone has black balled him and dumped him from every board room he sat in and is hired to clean out horse stalls. His San fran house his for closed due to the people not hiring them for weight loss scams, I mean support coaching. And he moves to a "podunk" town Now thats a bitch!

What an elitist prick bastard. I'm very educated, I read alot, I dig on history, I've been playing the piano since I was five (and by 6 I was better than his son is at it at the age of 8) I place in the 99.9% percentile on all the tests I've taken. His IQ is 158....mine is higher than his. I like museums and other languages as well. I also like watching wrestling, paintballing, ATVs, jetskis, movies like super troopers, beerfest, and animal house. I like wine as well, but I am not above drinking PBR or coors light. I think green, I like organic foods, I use natural cleaners and soaps and toothpaste, but I also like a big philly cheesesteak with curly fries now and then. I am also a sesquapedalian (a word fowler doesnt even know.) howevver I'm not going to lord it over other people.....it means someone who uses big words. I when speaking to people I try to use words that will communicate my message, so I don't sound like a condescending prick. If my audience isn't as educated as I am, I explain what I'm trying to say, in terms they will understand. I'm also not above trying to learn something from everyone I speak with, because chances are they may know something about life or have a valid opinion that may be enlightening, whether they have an extensive vocabulary or not. Fowler seems to think that by wearing t-shirts and be a condescending elitist ass, that he is going to change the world, and by treating a good woman like Gayla the way he did, what did he accomplish except to ruin his wife's reputation, and piss off millions of people. If you want to change people's way of thinking you need to educate, not condescend, He thinks that because he has money and listens to classical music (I listen to classical as well, but I also like Kid Rock, tech nine, and motley crue, and Vince Gill) That he is better than the rest of us. I'm educated as well, but I am disabled, poor, and live in a trailer. I'm also sociable, friendly, attractive (had to throw that in there,) and I'd bet my trailer I live in on the fact that I have way more friends than that limey ass does, and generally speaking, people instantly like me, and listen to what I have to say, because I'm not a condescinding prick, As I'm sure it's the same way with anyone who actually reads this. I don't necessarily agree with the lifestyle shared by Gayla's family, but that was no reason to treat her with such disrespect. Me and all my immediate family have been in the service, and for anyone who is a veteran or is in the service now, we are citizens of the world. He has a condescending attitude about the military too. I'll bet a year's worth of my disability checks that Fowler could never be a soldier. You don't have to be a genius to be in the military, but you have to have something he will never have in a million years: guts, respect for your fellow human being, integrity, heart, honor. Fowler has none of these. I feel bad for his wife and kids. Go back to Engalnd. We don't need your kind here

No one deserves what happened to you, but how can u condemn an entire part of the country. Were u gang raped by the Long family? I'm guessing not. I don't necessarily agree with their lifestyle, but you fought for their right to live as they want. Obviously your experience made you bitter, and I can't blame you, however what Fowler said to thiis woman was clearly out of line. the Long's are good people who want what's best for their family as well. Gayla did not deserve to be treated as a subordinate, or so shabbily.
Reply to this
The blatantly obvious irony is actually that the midwest family has been open-minded enough to embrace some of the ideas Renee introduced and actioned on them. Their lives have gotten richer in many small & subtle ways that however will have a profound long-term benefit.
The Fowler family did not even attempt to review that possibility although some of Gayla's rules are very hard to disagree with, no matter what your views on family and society are. They have not learned anything from those two weeks.
The irony is that Sir Fowler would most likely claim to be the most open minded and tolerant among those four and point the finger to the other family to be backwards.
Look at the results !
Being from Europe I must add that this behavior is not reflective of all places there. England is still very much a "class society" and other European cultures with stronger values of "equality" struggle with that as much as the Americans do. I have lived in six countries on three continents, including the UK. I had a good time there but also a bigger culture shock than everywhere else.

The Fowlers remind me of so many who live in the affluent communities of the San Francisco Bay Area. Within their gated enclaves, they spew the most hateful and condescending commentary on the lives of the 'uneducated and poor'. They're like the closet KKK, spreading hate among their ranks then pretending to care about the poor and disenfranchised only when it works to their benefit. Stephen Fowler is probably surprised by the public reaction to his vile behavior, so insular has his life become. He'll be equally shocked when his children act out as teens; most likely with sexual promiscuity and drug abuse (common among the affluent youth of SF). Goodbye, Mr. & Mrs. Fowler, your type will no longer be tolerated by the good-hearted people of America.

Todd it is pointless to argue bible doctrine with you as you are a non believer, but there is a cosmic certainty this fellow will "burn in Hell". Of course other faiths take exception with evangelical Christians belief that nonbelievers will burn in Hell. We evangelical Christians take exception with many of their beliefs. That is the purpose of believing, there are rules and boundaries. We respectfully disagree with other belief systems. Today the danger is not in other religions, the danger lies in Stephen Fowler's obvious belief in nothing outside of oneself. Humanism. This promises to unite all religions under a false umbrella of good. Most world religions have a special level of Hell for these unfortunate souls. This seemingly innocuous movement pushes perfection, when we Christians know only God is perfect. By pressing for perfection there is a sincere lack of joy. When "we do our best" we walk in Grace for ourselves and others knowing no one is perfect. Stephen again falls flat in this area. This movement pushes intellectual elitism and admonishes humility. I am certain a Baptist and a Bhudist would both agree this is not wise. While there is only one Truth, the are many pitfalls to Hell and Humanism falls first.

Shows how much you know....I have read the bible, the torah, parts of the koran....and read about buddhism as well. I never said I was a non-believer. I have faith. I just think that is all you need is faith. we all worship the same God, just in different ways. It really doesn't matter what faith you follow, just as long as you have faith. I think there is something to be learned from all religions. I have my fith in God, and I happen to think Jesus was an amzing man with a lot of the right ideas. but you have to realize all the books, and even the bible were writeen by men, and translated and retranslated by men, and if they found something they didnt agree with, they could have changed some things to suit their own beliefs, and thats what religions do today. How many different types of christians are there? All of them believe their way is the only way.I seriously doubt that Jesus would condemn good people because they weren't christian. Jesus was a jew after all. He didn't want pepople to worship him (I'm guessing) because he wasn't arrogant like that. He wanted people to worship GOD, and lead a better life. How many petty disagreements and wars were started over religion? How many are still going on today. Spirituality unites people people, religion divides them.Jesus loved and forgave everybody. He didn't hang out with kings and Queens, he hung out and talked with the worst of the worst to get them to believe in God. my God is is a forgiving and loving God....I think that it's your intentions, your actions, and whats in your head and heart get you into heaven.....not what particular group or religion you belong to.....and what does any of this have to do with Stephen Fowler I ask again......hes still an ass. Also, the purpose of believing is to be a better person, not to set "rules" and "boundaries" on faith. I don't believe that being narrow minded has anything to do with having faith, and Stephen Fowler is still an ass......so there.

I find it strange that an educated individual is unaware that every country has varying social strata. I'm not sure how far he ventured from his own streets, in his native country, but I am sure Englad has more than one social class. Stephen is such a small minded person. In attempting to raise himself above a particular class, he eliminated ever being taken seriously by anyone. I can't imagine how embarrasing it would be to be in any group affiliated with him.

I had the show on TiVo and just watched it. All I can say is I hope both Steve and his wife suffer financially due to Steve’s attitude towards America to the point that their kids have to enroll in public school!
Although I have to laugh – for a man who claims to be “Green” they don’t own a hybrid. Also, I have been all over Europe and believe me; any American that hasn’t been there isn’t missing very much! Most cities in Europe are full of graffiti, trash everywhere and smells like a sewer.
The real reason why he lives in this country has nothing to do with what he said! He’s here because he would be a pe'on in Europe. In the UK, Steve is a commoner and here in the US, he can put on heirs. What he failed to realize is Americans can see right through him! I would have given anything to be on that show. I would have called him out on everything including his false claim of having 158 IQ.
I know for a fact that his IQ is not over 140. He is so self centered, if he did have an IQ of 140 he would be a member of Mesa which he is not!

We in San Francisco know the rest of the country laughs at us. We make up for it by making boatloads of money and living better than 99.9% of people on the planet.
HOWEVER, there is no absolutely no reason not to be gracious to others who are not as fortunate, and there is ALWAYS something to be learned from someone else.
And while you can't generalize about all people based on where they live, my experiences with Midwesterners have always been positive. They are warm, practical people.

I'm curious. How exactly do you measure "living better than 99.9% of people on the planet"?
Based on how much money you make?
Then there is a good reason for the country and the world to laugh at you.
I wonder how often you actually get to truly laugh your heart out.

Wrong! You are absolutely wrong. This show has been on for years and the families they show, while always from extreme opposites, i.e. home schooled versus prep schooled, pageant moms versus pirate moms, the families somehow manage grudgingly to learn and exchange their cultures and bend to the benefit of the children. That is,after all,the point. The only complete failure I've seen, was a family that insisted on living on raw meat-old raw meat. High meat. But Stephen Fowler was so convinced of his own godhood that he was unaware he was playing the fool for an audience of millions. I know many people like him. They sound educated. They have degrees. They can break your patience and your spirit. But that still doesn't, ultimately, make them right. He may have more money than that woman And till I met him,I was fully on his side. After all,she was feeding her family a diet devoid of vegetables. Her family was overweight and not interested in a healthier diet or education. But rather than showing her the advantges,he shamed her, degraded, called her names, even refused her access to the upstairs. How childish. The average citizen of SF takes a guest out to dinner, shows them the sights, the Golden Gate Bridge, laughs about the weather, quotes Mark Twain, ("the coldest winter I ever spent was summer in S.F.".) visits the various piers, Marin County, the crookedest street in the U.S.- -ETC. I live in San Jose and I am really ashamed to claim this man as a Calif. citizen. We are a laid back state. Don't litter. Recycle. Live and let live. Multi-cultural. Robin Williams lives in Marin County. Sean Penn lives in the area. Our Gov. is The Terminator-and he's a good Governor. And I love the Midwest. I lived there for 20 years. So did a lot of us. We can't all move to Florida.
I think ABC interviewed Renee but perhaps didn't put as much thought into their vetting of Stephen. The disparity is counted on in the show. Without it,you have no show. Stephen's blatant stupidity-his
"I can never show my face at work again after I say these gross and insensitive things" was not a firestorm that they had forseen. (Nor did little Stephen.)

ABC should stop putting helpless children in the middle of these tacky antics. While it is obvious that Stephen Fowler showed a shameful lack of grace and courtesy, it is even more shameful that ABC film crew and editors, knowing that this blatant VERBAL ABUSE was taking place, did not put a stop to the filming AND put a stop to the abuse. It was clearly happening in front of the children, and with the consent of other adults who were in the room when it occurred.

In this case, I really think the show should have been stopped on the first day and a psychologist (I'm assuming there is one on staff monitoring the situation in both households, domestic homicides being so bad ultimately for ratings) should have had a very stern, very either/or talk with Mr. Fowler.I think having him watch an hour of his behaviour with any random group of friends or strangers might have changed his attitude and gotten through to him what a jerk he was being.
What a roll model. Imagine as they pick up some little friends for the next play date. Little Ann and Davey get in the car. "What are we going to play?says Ann. "Our house, our games, our rules. You don't like it,you can sit outside and cry in the rain while we eat our profiteroles. You can have the day old carrot cake. Nyah. Retard."Davey bursts into tears. "Man up you little low-life. If you can't cut it at snack time, how are you going to get a top-tier job? Wimp!"

I hope for the sake of PEOPLE that those in San Francisco refuse to support the Fowlers with their business. Perhaps it will force them to try their ignorance on ignorant people in another country.

WOW is right...Mr Fowler is being trashed...and based on his performance, I'd say for good cause. NOW...let's look at this from a little different angle. Does anyone not believe ABC didn't tell him to "ham it up"? It is the American media way...any thing for the ratings!!! Don't get me wrong, I don't condon Mr Fowler's actions. I just can't believe so many people are letting any kind of comments for such a stupid show (Wife Swap). Why do people watch such garbage to begin with...in hopes of seeing the drama...well, Mr Fowler provided an abundance of that. Let's start a blog placing the blame on ABC for 1) coming up with such a terrible show and 2) actually airing it!!! Mr Fowler...ABC...who is worse?

this sounds like the typical american approach: disregard personal responsibily for your behavior (fowler being abusive) and put the blame on a corporation (ABC, so that we can sue it)

Thank you...I am an American. I don't believe I mentioned the word "sue" in my posting. I hate all the frivolous law suits as much as I hate shows like this (probably more). I don't excuse Mr Fowler's abusive behavior...but, I do believe ABC is as much, or more, to blame for this. If everyone is going to blast Mr Fowler...they better be BLASTING ABC as well. Ever heard of resolving a problem at the source?

1. Was Fowler applying for show to promote their business?
2. If he is that smart like he claims to be but didn't act so smart on the show?
3. Even it is just a tv show, should he be smart enough not to get his children to be involved? For example: at the rule change ceremony.
4. Why he has to go as far as insulting the military and country he lives? If he hates it then leaves. Who is stopping him? We don't need him.

1. Yes, promoting their businesses would be one of the reasons; bringing awareness to environmental issues, which they are passionate about, is another; last but not least, the $50K from ABC for being on the show.
2. He's intelligent, not smart. There's a big difference. Sometimes intelligence, and the ego it creates, gets in the way of being smart.
3. It's a family reality show; children add an appeal to any show, because they are less, if at all, self-conscious. The problem is the adult behavior, and it's what the kids see all the time. There was nothing in the rules that were inappropriate for children to read or listen.
4. All those points have been discussed to death here and elsewhere.
5. I am taking the trouble (ok, no trouble really) to reply, just for kicks, since there has been no activity for a couple of days.
Cheers.

When was it made illegal to question and crticise.
If United Statemen/Stateswomen (that is the correct terminology to use, not Americans), are so insecure to any criticism. Its always "go back to where you belong" if you question anything. The same happens in Australia, if you don't drive a Holden car (off-shoot of GM), play "footy" (a silly game played with a ball shaped like an egg), then you are not one of us. How dare anyone tell me who I should be. Folks I thinks its called Freedom, yet if you don't conform, then you don't belong here.
I though the U.S. stood for freedom.
But Australia is equally guilty.
He wants the best for his family, to educate them and so what if he is a bit of a disciplinarian, I wish more parents were like him.
Parents are too lazy today, hence children are less intelligent than the previous generation, less mature and basically inferior.
Come on folks, those in their 40s and 50s will agree, There is something wrong here, and its so obvious, its called complacency and laziness.
Laziness to even bother thinking, beacuse its "too hard" ?
Here is something interesting for you, why do many people die in dangerous situations, where there was a good probability of survival ? The reason being is that Adrenalin in surging all over the body, a typical flight/fight response, which hampers clear and logical thought. Those that can control this usually survive. What I'm saying is this, please think and don't let your emotions take over you.
I'm not here to cyber-bash The U.S., I lived amongst you for over 4 years, and its a wonderful country.
But like anywhere in the world it has it's good and bad. The real issue here is freedom of speech.

we have so much problems in the world including environmental problems because of people like him. we don't hear and try to understand each other. if u want to change the world respect people. none of us are born with knowledge. if one doesn't know something show him/her respectfully.
i respect the Midwestern family for willing to change it.
life is a test. its temporary. money, knowledge, status wont matter. we come naked we go naked. bill gate wont take a penny with him.

Stephen Fowler really is an arse. He may have been told to ham it up for the camera but there are ways to add pork without being so overt. I think he and Mrs anti-fat need to rethink things. Possibly they need to be put on a reality program where their money, credit cards and lavish living are locked up and let them live like a majority of the country has to live. It appears that money and status are everything to them.....their children nothing. I couldn't believe Mrs anti-fat saying should could only tolerate being around the children for an hour and then it goes against her personality. OMG those poor, poor children. They should be immediately removed from that home and placed in a home where they would be loved and tolerated. These people are so misguided and need to take the lashings they are now reaping for showing the world their poor character.

The irony of the sequence of events that has derailed the Foul-er household is no doubt lost in the arrogant eliteist haze that Steven and his 'unfortunate' American wife are looking through. He's not one bit sorry about what he said, he's sorry about what happened to him. I just pray that he can clearly see that this is a chance from God to rethink his life and what he values and cares about. Clearly his children are suffering - neither of them are nurturing and the kids are just STRUGGLing to figure it out. The lady from Missouri represented a challenge to his world view, and he HAD to attack it.... ironically, it has brought him to ruin. Will he see that? Time will tell.... Unfortunately, he will likely repeat this again and again until something more tragic happens....
